Air New Zealand offers passengers more flexibility for domestic flights to make their travel cheaper and easier.

Leanne Geraghty, Air New Zealand’s director of customer and sales, said flexibility is extremely important to customers and these new changes make it clear what they are buying.

“When we first introduced pricing options, flexibility and choice were among the main drivers. Today, that is still important and with the uncertainty lingering due to COVID-19, we wanted to give customers the option to purchase more flexibility if they wish.

“These changes provide greater flexibility, while also providing clear descriptions of what each rate type allows customers to do. “

The new domestic options are:

  • Flexirefund – where customers have maximum flexibility to change date, time, destination or origin until departure without incurring any change fees and receive a refund if they choose not to travel. No fare difference applies if the flight time is changed on the day of travel.
  • Flexicash – Customers will benefit from increased flexibility thanks to the waiver of the cost of changing the date, route and time of travel until departure. And if customers want to change the flight time on the day of travel, they can do so for free with no fare difference.
  • Seat and seat+ bag – these are the cheapest and most suitable options for customers who are sure of their travel plans. Increased flexibility will now allow customers to change the time or date of the flight on the day of travel with applicable charges, whereas previously these changes had to be made prior to the date of travel.

The airline’s current COVID-19 domestic flexibility policy is in place for travel through October 31, 2021, with its international flexibility policy extended through February 28, 2022.

Ms Geraghty adds that “With the normal fare rules for domestic travel scheduled to resume from November 1, we wanted to make sure we had a long-term fare structure that gave customers more options for flexibility. of travel. Customers will still be able to opt for credit if their flight is impacted due to alert level changes. “

Customers with existing bookings made through Air New Zealand under the old product names will automatically see them changed to reflect the new flexibility options (flexitime will become flexicash and flexiDated will become flexirefund). For those who booked through a travel agent, the new flexibility options will apply to existing tickets and customers will be able to continue to make changes through their agents.

In addition, the airline has significantly reduced its domestic fares at the airport and there is now a single price for each additional room. Eligible customers will continue to be able to access discounted rates on up to two additional items by purchasing prepaid items in advance.
