POCAHONTAS, Ark. (KAIT) – Pocahontas Municipal Airport held its first monthly meeting for 2022 on Monday, January 10. At this meeting, they discussed the unprecedented growth and what it means for the community.
Since 2010, the airport has seen a 164% increase in traffic, while fuel sales have increased by 14,000%.
Airports Commission Chairman Danny Ellis said their passion for creating a customer experience is the foundation for this growth.
“We tried to go back to the old school (ways),” Ellis said. “We try to use the service in every way possible to maintain service in much of the Pocahontas airport.”
When the pilots arrive at Pocahontas airport, they have a whole experience to go through.
The new terminal has a pilot lounge, bedroom and hospitality vehicles that pilots can use between flights.
“We focus on the customer. When the customer comes here, they are happy, ”said Randy Gilless, airport manager.
Today, the airport is aiming for a bright future. With a surplus of income, plans to build a new hangar are underway.
Ellis said expansion is necessary to maintain growth.
Their goal is to make Pocahontas a destination airport for pilots, and they move in that direction with every inbound flight.
