So many delicious ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

A curmudgeonly calendar kicked a curve ball this year by planting Valentine’s Day at the very start of the week, on a Monday evening, when most restaurants close for a well-deserved post-weekend break.

On the other hand, the whole country is yearning for a little love after almost two years, so while some are forced to make up for all those days of forced closure and open especially for the night, many more will choose to make a weekend of February 12 becoming the de facto VDay of the hospitality industry.

And then there are those who will continue a habit born from confinement and order dinner at home, which undoubtedly means that more than one choose to “work from home” on Tuesday mornings! Fear not, however you choose to lavish romantic attentions on your loved one, the menu is loaded with appropriate options.

The menu covers all the bases, including those currently without a partner and what a more fitting night to possibly meet your future soul mate while drinking great craft beers and eating some of the best pizza in the country.

Franciscan Well Brewery Socially Distant Valentine’s Day Dating Party

OK, Sunday February 13 isn’t quite the day per se, but it’s pretty close and that’s when the Franciscan Well Brewery is hosting its Valentine’s Day social distance get-together night , in which you remain seated at your table, while browsing a map of the various numbered bar tables, identify the object of your dreams and ask your waiter to buy a drink from said deity or even pass on your number. All in all, a rather charming way to “swipe right”.

Moreover, it seems that there is only room left for gentlemen suitors.

Dine at home with your loved one

If The Menu is to choose stay-at-home to woo Mrs Menu, then a strong contender for the dining table has to be Caitlin Ruth’s Valentine’s Day food and wine package, with no cooking required.

The compostable box contains a cocktail mix, cocktail garnishes, a selection of appetizers and starters, homemade bread & butter, a main dish of duck confit with white bean cassoulet (vegetarian option available), a selection of desserts and sweets, an after-dinner homemade loose leaf tea blend, and various other little surprises.

Valentine’s Day dinner for two

Another splendid in-home dining option to really up the ante is Niall Sabongi’s Sustainable Seafood Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two, featuring oysters, caviar, lobster ravioli, butter-roasted whole turbot champagne and delicious handmade Irish chocolates for dessert. All you need to add is maybe some steamed potatoes and a fresh seasonal green vegetable to the main course and pop the cork on something fresh and bubbly. Available for delivery nationwide (February 11-12).

One of the most popular daily specials on various menus across the country these days is the classic Beef Wellington and James Whelan Butchers are reintroducing a limited edition of their signature on said creation to offer home diners a more elaborate offering. from the oven without any of the hassle of prep. Tartare Café + Wine Bar, in Galway, make it a whole weekend (from February 11 to 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.), with a special Valentine’s Day Menu (€45 per person), including a complimentary glass of Pet Nat rosé, Irish charcuterie, cheeses, pickles and compote, before some deliciously succulent mains of the West’s finest dishes.

Valentine’s Day at the Morrison Room is a sumptuous menu to share for two at the Morrison Room, Carton House (February 12, 13 and 14), €140 per person including a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne, with optional luxury accommodation .

‘Galentine’s’ Afternoon Tea, a celebration of female friendship, at Cork International Airport Hotel, runs throughout February, with themed sweets and savory snacks rose served from 12.45 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day. Also available for take-out collection.
