Lykke Li has announced her tour dates with a headlining performance in Los Angeles at the Theater at Ace Hotel on September 30. Touring in support of her upcoming album EYEYE, Lykke Li has shared a haunting new single “No Hotel.” Recorded from his bedroom in Los Angeles, the new single features the strictly composed dark and minimalist production for his latest project. His vocals were recorded on a $70 drum mic, giving him a quivering glow and, unsurprisingly, Lykke’s soul-crackling words have lost none of their potency.
Aiming for the raw wounds of a torn heart, there’s no hiding or diminishing the pain on display on “No Hotel.” The single, however, is just one piece of the cyclical tales of love and loss that unfold on the forthcoming album. Something alluded to by its palindromic name: EYE. The album will also come with seven different visual loops which, when played together, will reveal the larger story of the album. A preview of the visuals is available here.
“We wanted to capture the beauty and grandeur of a three-hour European arthouse film, while creating something native to modern media,” Lykke explained. “The intention is to deliver the full impact of a film in sixty seconds on a phone screen, where most of our emotional experiences now occur anyway.”
