MANCHESTER UNITED are set to sign Jurrien Timber for £30million from Ajax on the orders of Erik ten Hag.
SunSport recently revealed that Ten Hag is keen to bring the towering centre-back with him from Ajax to Old Trafford.
Ten Hag is aiming to break the dominance of Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Dutch manager made his intentions clear during his first press conference for United, where he revealed his plans to put the Red Devils back at the top of English football.
He and Timber won the Eredivisie title with Ajax in May, and Ten Hag believes they can replicate that success at Old Trafford together.
Representatives for Timber fueled speculation that a transfer was imminent when they posted a clip of him at an airport with the caption “deal closing time…”.
And now it looks like the burly 20-year-old defender was heading to Manchester.
That’s according to transfer insider Pedro Almeida who claims Timber is “one step away” from a move to the Red Devils.
United and Ajax have agreed a £30m deal for the Netherlands international, the report added.
The claims were supported by Fabrizio Romano who reported Wood was discussed during a recent meeting between Ten Hag and United’s senior brass in the past 48 hours.

Villarreal ace Pau Torres was also mentioned in the meeting, he claims.
Ten Hag would like Torres and Timber to bolster a formidable defense to replace lackluster pair Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire.
However, Torres is a wanted man who is also being chased by Tottenham and Chelsea.
Moreover, United will have to dig deep to transport Torres as he has a £51million release clause.
