Planned ramp closures on the H-1 Freeway, Airport Viaduct and Pearl Harbor Interchange, for pavement marking facilities

HONOLULU – Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) Notifies Public of Complete Ramp Closures on H-1 Freeway at Pearl City Interchange, Pearl Harbor Interchange and Airport Overpass in January and February 2022, for the installation of improved pavement markers and milled rough strips. The details of the road works are as follows.

January closures:

  • Closure of the Moanalua road ramps to the H-1 highway eastbound from Tuesday evening January 4 to Friday morning January 7 and from Sunday evening January 9 to Thursday morning January 13, from 7:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Three lanes will remain open on the H-1 highway eastbound. If the work is canceled due to weather conditions, closures may take place from Sunday January 9 to Thursday January 13.
  • Closure of the access ramps from rue Aolele and boulevard Rodgers to the H-1 highway westbound from Sunday evening, January 30 to Monday morning, January 31, from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. If the work is canceled due to weather conditions, closures may take place from Sunday February 6 to Monday February 7.

February closures:

  • Closure of the O’Malley Boulevard and Nimitz highway access ramp to the H-1 highway westbound from Sunday, February 13 to Friday, February 18, from 8 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. If the work is canceled due to weather conditions, closing may take place from Sunday February 20 to Friday February 25.
  • Closure of the Nimitz Highway / Joint Base PHH (Exit 15) exit of the H-1 eastbound from Sunday, February 13 to Friday, February 18, from 8 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. If the work is canceled due to weather conditions , closures can take place from Sunday February 20 to Friday February 25.
  • Closure of the Joint Base PHH offramp of the Eastbound Kamehameha Expressway from Sunday, February 13 to Friday, February 18, from 8:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. If the work is canceled due to weather conditions, closures may occur on Sunday, from February 20 to Friday February 25.

During closing hours, motorists will be diverted to alternative routes. Electronic bulletin boards will be posted to notify motorists of the closure and of the detour. Special duty police officers will be on hand to assist with security procedures and traffic control. First responders and TheBus have been notified of the closure and will not be allowed through. All road works allow it.
