Video captures a man walking down a dual carriageway with suitcases near Manchester Airport

A ‘stunning’ video shows the moment a man was caught walking on a busy dual carriageway near an airport – with his luggage in tow.

The shocking footage was taken on the A555 slipway near Manchester Airport at around 9.40am on Sunday May 22.

In the clip, cars can be seen driving past the man as he rolls two suitcases onto the ramp.

A taxi driver, who captured the video after dropping off passengers at the airport, said the strange sight left him completely perplexed.

The 38-year-old, who asked to remain anonymous, told Manchester Evening News: “I was driving away from the airport towards the M56 and I was like, ‘What is this person doing? ‘

” I could not believe it. It’s just not something you’d expect to see on the freeway live – there were cars speeding past it at 60mph. How can you not believe you’re where you’re not supposed to be when cars are speeding past you?

“And where are you going to go with all the suitcases on the road?” It was absolutely mind-boggling; human stupidity has no limits.

The man can be seen rolling two suitcases down the busy road as cars drive past him.

“Obviously he just arrived from somewhere and is trying to find someone. I think he must have been expecting someone to pick him up and they arranged a spot to avoid paying the pick up fee and got the wrong stick.

“I’m a taxi driver and I’m at the airport five times a day and the distance people are willing to travel to avoid paying pick up and drop off fees is mind boggling.

“They are dropped off at roundabouts and in the middle of the road. I’ve seen people backing up the one-way ramp to avoid the charge. I’ve seen it all.

“I was going to stop and tell him he was putting himself in danger but he looked at me and I saw cars coming up behind me and I didn’t want to cause any more trouble.”
