A coalition of travel agencies that participated in the concluded Hajj operation in 2022 petitioned the Consulate General of Nigeria in Saudi Arabia for non-refund of travel visa, airfare and accommodation at the hotel paid to a Saudi travel agency Alkahasafi Travel Tours Limited and Alshamel International Société Anonyme.
The petition, signed by Alhaji Ibrahim Khaleel of Khaleel Travel Tours Limited on behalf of other affected travel agents, revealed that the affected travel agents have asked the Saudi-based companies to refund the sum of more than 535 million naira paid into their accounts for services during Operation Hajj 2022.
They said that the companies failed to render the agreed services and therefore had to repay the said amount.
The petition further stated that the affected tour operators had taken all necessary steps to recover the money from the companies, but to no avail, hence the resolution to seek formal intervention from the Consulate General to enable the affected Nigerian tour operators to refund their respective customers. .
“We have attached all deposit receipts in this petition to authenticate our claim. This petition is a sign of respect and consideration we have for the Nigerian Consulate as law abiding citizens of Nigeria and we hope that the Good Offices of the Nigerian Consul in Saudi Arabia will take up the matter and deal with it amicably. ,” the petition reads.
Nigerian tour operators affected include Royal First Class Travel and Tours Services, Al Ansar Travels and Tours and Khalil Travel and Tours.
